Washer Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair washers across the Portland area, and if yours is full of water right now, unplug it, shut the water valves, and call us. Machines here live in basements that smell of damp concrete and in tight bungalow laundry nooks behind a folding door. When one quits, the cause is usually a worn drain pump, a stretched belt, a bad lid switch or door lock, tired suspension parts, or a control board that lost track of the cycle. A visit starts with listening. We run the machine, watch the fill and the drain, then pull panels and test parts instead of guessing. You get a plain explanation of what broke and what fixing it involves.

The washer symptoms we hear most

  • "It's full of water and won't drain" Clogged drain pump, blocked hose, or a pump motor that quit turning.
  • "It bangs so hard the floor shakes" Worn suspension rods, shot shock absorbers, or a tub bearing on its way out.
  • "Water on the laundry room floor" Split hose, cracked tub seal, loose clamp, or a door boot that leaks.
  • "The tub fills but never spins" Broken lid switch, stuck door lock, snapped belt, or drive motor trouble.
  • "Clothes come out smelling sour" Mildew down in the gasket folds, biofilm in the dispenser, and a clogged drain path.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Make sure both hot and cold supply valves are open all the way.
  • 2Look behind the machine for a drain hose that is kinked, crushed, or shoved too far down the standpipe.
  • 3Pull the plug for a minute, then restore power, which clears some stuck control boards.
  • 4Even out a lopsided load and check that all four feet sit firm on the floor.

Washer Repair — quick answers

Why does my front-loader smell like mildew?

Damp air and detergent residue together feed mold in the rubber door boot and the dispenser. Wipe the gasket dry, leave the door ajar between loads, and run a hot cleaning cycle. If the odor sticks around, the drain hose or sump probably needs clearing.

Can you repair stacked washer and dryer units?

Yes. Stacked sets in closets are common around here. We unstack carefully when the job calls for it, work on the machine, and put things back the way we found them. Tell us the layout when you call so we plan for enough room.

Is a leaking washer worth repairing?

Often it is. Plenty of leaks come down to a hose, a clamp, or a seal rather than the whole machine. We find the source first, then walk you through the repair and the condition of the rest of the washer so you can decide.

Do you work on top-load and front-load models?

Both, along with older belt-driven top-loaders and newer high-efficiency machines running electronic controls. We are an independent repair company and service all major brands. Have the model number handy and we can bring the right parts.

Why does my washer stop mid-cycle?

A cycle that halts usually points to a drain problem, an unbalanced load the machine keeps trying to correct, a door lock that lost contact, or a control fault. Write down any error code on the display and share it when you call.

How should I prepare for the visit?

Clear a path to the machine and move laundry baskets and storage bins out of the way. If water pooled, towel it up so we can spot fresh drips. Leave the washer plugged in and we can run a test cycle right away.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form and describe what you're hearing, seeing or smelling. Brand and rough age help. We ask a few questions up front so the likely parts ride along in the van.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician shows up in the window we set, pulls the unit out and tests it. Tight basement stairs and low bungalow ceilings are ordinary to us. You'll hear what's wrong before anything gets replaced.

  3. Step 3

    You decide, we repair

We walk you through the fix and what it involves, then wait for your go-ahead. Most common parts are already on the truck. If something has to be ordered, we tell you the plan and follow up.

Why homeowners call us

  • Damp-house know-howPortland laundry rooms grow mildew and basements stay wet. We know what moisture does to dryer vents, washer parts and control boards, so before we call a repair done we look at the room around the machine too.
  • Unhurried visitsA rushed diagnostic misses things. We take the extra minutes to pull the panel, look behind the drum and test the drain line. Then we tell you plainly what failed and whether fixing it makes sense on that appliance.
  • Every major brandWe're an independent shop, so the whole kitchen and laundry room is fair game: washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, freezers and disposals. A twenty-year-old unit gets the same careful look as a new digital one.
  • Wide service reachHomeowners in five Western states reach us the same way. City bungalow, suburban split-level, a house down a gravel road. We set a visit and arrive with tools and common parts ready.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Whirlpool, Samsung, GE, LG, Maytag, Bosch and more.
  • Straight answersWhen a repair doesn't make sense, we tell you, sometimes before we even roll a truck.
