The independent appliance repair shop across the Pacific Northwest

Stove & Range Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair gas and electric ranges, and the fix usually comes down to an igniter, a bake element, a burner switch, an oven sensor, or a control board that's given up. Ranges quit in ordinary ways. A surface burner clicks and clicks but never lights, or one coil element stays cold while the rest heat fine. The oven reads 350 and bakes closer to 275. Touch panels go dead after a power blip. When we come out, we run the appliance, read any error codes, pull the storage drawer or back panel, and test the parts under suspicion instead of guessing. Then we tell you plainly what failed and what fixing it involves. Slide-in or freestanding, we work on all major brands as an independent shop. Call us and describe what you're seeing.

The stove & range symptoms we hear most

  • "It clicks forever before the flame catches" Weak or cracked spark igniter, or moisture and spilled food sitting in the burner head
  • "My cookies burn on the bottom every time" Oven temperature sensor drifting, thermostat calibration gone, or a bake element shorting
  • "One burner won't heat at all" Burnt element terminal block, a bad infinite switch, or a broken coil
  • "The oven never gets hot, but the stovetop works" Cracked bake igniter on gas models, or an open bake element and relay on electric
  • "Buttons light up and nothing responds" Failed electronic control board, membrane switch, or a safety lockout that tripped

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Make sure the range is plugged in all the way and the breaker for it hasn't tripped at the panel.
  • 2Look for a control lock or Sabbath mode icon on the display, then hold that button a few seconds to clear it.
  • 3Lift off the burner caps and grates and check for spilled food or standing moisture blocking the igniter's spark path.
  • 4Set an oven thermometer on the middle rack, preheat to 350, and note how far off the real reading is.

After the visit, in their words

“Gas smell had me nervous. They treated it as urgent, checked the valve, tightened the fitting, tested everything twice.”

Doug M.Ontario, CA

“Refrigerator was warm on top, freezing below. Defrost timer swapped, groceries saved.”

Nina C.Lancaster, CA

“You talk to a human when you call. That alone puts them ahead of everyone else I tried.”

Stove & Range Repair — quick answers

Do you work on gas and electric ranges both?

Yes. Gas igniters, valves and safety valves, plus electric elements, switches and control boards. Dual-fuel slide-ins with a gas top and electric oven, too. Tell us the fuel type when you call us so we bring likely parts.

Is it safe to keep using the stovetop if the oven is broken?

Often yes, since they run on separate parts. Stop right away if you smell gas, see sparks, or the burner flames lift off and turn yellow. Shut the appliance off and call us before using it again.

Why does my oven smell like gas when it first turns on?

A short whiff at ignition can be normal as gas reaches the igniter. A lingering smell is not. If it keeps up, shut off the gas at the valve, ventilate the room, and step outside before you call for help.

How long does a typical stove repair visit take?

Most single-failure repairs wrap up in one visit once we've confirmed the bad part. Diagnosis usually runs under an hour. Control boards and specialty igniters sometimes have to be ordered, and we schedule a return trip to install them.

My glass cooktop has a crack. Can that be fixed?

The glass gets replaced, not repaired. Quit using it in the meantime, because cracks let liquid down to the wiring underneath. Send us the model number and we'll check whether a replacement surface is still available.

Should I repair a range that's twelve years old?

Depends on what failed. Igniters, elements and switches are routine repairs worth doing on an older unit. When a control board and a second major part go at the same time, we'll walk you through the tradeoff honestly.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form and describe what you're hearing, seeing or smelling. Brand and rough age help. We ask a few questions up front so the likely parts ride along in the van.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician shows up in the window we set, pulls the unit out and tests it. Tight basement stairs and low bungalow ceilings are ordinary to us. You'll hear what's wrong before anything gets replaced.

  3. Step 3

    You decide, we repair

We walk you through the fix and what it involves, then wait for your go-ahead. Most common parts are already on the truck. If something has to be ordered, we tell you the plan and follow up.

Why homeowners call us

  • Damp-house know-howPortland laundry rooms grow mildew and basements stay wet. We know what moisture does to dryer vents, washer parts and control boards, so before we call a repair done we look at the room around the machine too.
  • Unhurried visitsA rushed diagnostic misses things. We take the extra minutes to pull the panel, look behind the drum and test the drain line. Then we tell you plainly what failed and whether fixing it makes sense on that appliance.
  • Every major brandWe're an independent shop, so the whole kitchen and laundry room is fair game: washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, freezers and disposals. A twenty-year-old unit gets the same careful look as a new digital one.
  • Wide service reachHomeowners in five Western states reach us the same way. City bungalow, suburban split-level, a house down a gravel road. We set a visit and arrive with tools and common parts ready.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Whirlpool, Samsung, GE, LG, Maytag, Bosch and more.
  • Straight answersWhen a repair doesn't make sense, we tell you, sometimes before we even roll a truck.
